Horacio 7-7-03

1st Inning.
- Roger Cendeno~ 6-3 [moved the ball around well, kept him off balance
- Raul Gonzalez ~ Bloop off of Marcus Giles's glove, ruled a hit at first, now an error (first pitch)
- Jeromy Burnitz~ f-9 (first pitch)
- Ty Wiggington - full count weak 5-3

Horacio kept them off balance and had really good control. Gonzalez and Burnitz jumped on the first pitch. Moved the ball around well.

2nd inning.
- Jason Phillips~ from 3-0 to full count, pop up, p-4
- Vance Wilson~ fly to Andruw
- Jay Bell- Strike out swinging

Not much difference, he made Jay Bell look silly. Quick inning.

3rd inning
- Rey Sanchez - good breaking ball introduced in this at bat, 4-3 great play by Marcus
- Jae Seo - Horacio made him look silly, throw out that he's a pitcher, this was one impressive at bat. Struck him out swinging.
- Roger Cendeno- threw strikes, 0-2, struck out looking.

He threw strikes in this inning, granted it was 8-9-and Cedeno, but he got a lot of pitches in that fooled the hitters, lots of swings and misses. He looked very sharp.

4th inning
- Raul Gonzalez~ Pitched him high the whole at bat, looked like he needed to calm himself down right before ball 4 was thrown~ base on balls.
- Jeromy Burnitz~ first pitch pop up
- Ty Wiggington~ doubled on the first pitch, barely fair right down the first base line. First official hit of the game.
- Jason Phillips~ uncomfortable looking, very off balance. Popped up to Marcus w/ runners on 2nd and 3rd.

Horacio did great this inning doing what he did very well early on in the season, pitching out of jams, and preventing the big inning, or in this case even a run to cross the plate. Gave up the first official hit of the game on a ball that kicked up some major chalk and looked foul to the Ramirez fans

5th inning
- Jay Bell - struck out looking, on a 2-2 pitch.
- Rey Sanchez - pitching him inside the whole at bat, 6-3
- Jae Seo- Horacios not forcing himself to throw Seo his best, he looks like he may be throwing in some other pitches because it's the pitcher and he's made Seo look silly before. He makes him look silly again by striking him out on an embarrassing swing.

Ramirez did well this inning, looked like he got into a groove, well he's been in a groove the whole game, but he didn't throw his best pitches and still had a 3 up 3 down inning. That's what good pitchers do, they can certainly beat you with their best, but they can also beat you when they're sub par, just by the mound presence and pitch calling.

6th inning
- Roger Cedeno~ first pitch, double barely fair, bad call down the 3rd base line. Should have been called a foul ball.
- Raul Gonzalez~ Horacio was nibbling around the corners to Raul, full count, bloop single right in front of Andruw.
- Jeromy Burnitz~ Error by Marcus, good pitch though.
- Ty Wiggington~ a gazillion ugly errors on a pop up to Fick. Obviously Horacio is doing his job, and not getting any feedback.
- Vance Wilson~ first pitch 6-3
- Jay Bell- first pitch 1-3

Horacio did an absolutely FABULOUS job of pitching in this inning. The errors were made on one ground ball, and one should have been pop up to Robert Fick. He did his job, and the double to Cedeno wasn't even fair, so there should have been one hit, the bloop from Raul. He really did a great job of getting out of that jam, or at least trying to, and then the last two batters helped him out.

7th inning
- Rey Sanchez~ line drive to Marcus, lots of strikes in the at bat, great pitch sequence.
- Joe McEwing~ to McEwings credit, he was incredibly patient, but Horacio nibbled a lot and didn't catch a lot of the plate, full count though on some foul balls, and McEwing earned the walk.
- Roger Cedeno~ great pitch hit into a double play, right after a bunt attempt.

Very quick inning for Horacio, and he needed that after the last one. Made a fabulous pitch to Roger Cedeno to get him to ground into the double play and end the inning. Very exciting, Horacio has never gone beyond the 7th inning.. will he… wont he… we shall see =)

8th inning
- Raul Gonzalez~ first pitch 5-3 weak and off balance, looked pretty ugly on a very good pitch middle in
- Jeromy Burnitz~ Horacio caught a break on this one, Burnitz was right on the ball but there was a shift on, and he just hit into a 4-3, on the second pitch.
- Ty Wigginton-third pitch here, fly to Andruw Jones.

Are we excited or WHAT! GO Horacio! 8 innings! Can we say economical? Threw only 6 pitches this inning, the mets are definitely helping Ramirez out by jumping on him early in the count, often. Could we possibly see the first Atlanta complete game? Well, we got 8 innings out of him, why not!

9th inning
- Jason Phillips~
1st pitch~~ strike one, cut fastball down the middle.
2nd pitch~ lined to Gary Sheffield
- Vance Wilson~
1st pitch~ strike one same cutter down the middle
2nd pitch~ foul ball
3rd pitch~ strike 3 swinging, looked like the same cut fastball.
- Tony Clark~
1st pitch~ ball one barely high
2nd pitch~ foul ball
3rd pitch~ foul ball
4th pitch~ foul ball
5th pitch~ foul ball
6th pitch~ struck him out swinging.

NO WAY did Horacio just pitch Atlantas first complete game? And on the first day Kristi and I are analyzing the game? Oh wow was this special! Ok, for the recap, he kept all of the Mets hitters off balance, made them look very stupid some of the time. The only hits were jokes, 2 that hugged the line and kicked up major chalk, a bloop, as good as a no hitter if you ask me. Mets helped him out a lot by jumping on the first pitch all throughout the game. Fabulous pitching, pitched outside a lot, but didn't nibble a lot- threw a bunch of strikes. Stayed out of the middle of the plate and had a lot of the hitters fooled. Great outing for Horacio!!
